I designed and fabricated a custom keychain in SolidWorks, carefully selecting materials based on performance and aesthetics. I used 2024 aluminum alloy for the main body, AISI 316L stainless steel for the key ring, acrylic for the spur gear, and AISI 1020 steel for the screws. After assembling the model in SolidWorks (left), I machined the parts using a lathe and a 3-axis milling machine (right). I added internal threading by hand using a tap to ensure everything fit cleanly during final assembly.
